Two Ways To Change Your Mindset For Success

You can set goals, make promises but they mean squat without action. Rather than looking at goal setting, try the choices and answers approach. There’s a big difference between those that make choices and those that seek answers. Answer seekers often spend more time waiting for perfect answers, taking very little action. It’s no surprise, but still widely doubted, but there aren’t perfect answers. There’s just a series of choices. Of course, inaction is also a choice. Accepting things as they are doesn’t mean you love it. It’s just where you are now, it may be all you’ve got, and is all you can offer up to yourself and the world.
Answers are easier to pursue because they are more definitive. But answers also take the responsibility off your shoulders and onto the shoulders of others or the circumstances at hand. It’s easier to blame someone else or circumstances for lackluster results or inaction than it is to blame yourself.
Choices, on the other hand, mean you take ownership. The consequences and responsibilities associated with your choices are yours and yours alone. That can be a lot of pressure especially with relentless demands from your daily lives. Choices are an investment of time and energy. You can easily go down a rabbit hole of analysis and paralysis from too many choices. And that’s a choice, a choice to stay stuck, a choice to not take action. Most try and make choices on their own or factor in too many opinions of unqualified people. And then you ask the wrong questions of the wrong people which keeps you spinning your wheels. Although they may have your best interest and care for you deeply, they aren’t you.
Choice is where empowerment through growth happens. You’d be more successful, achieving your health goals, if you knew there was no such thing as a bad choice. You heard me right. There is no such thing as a bad choice. Choices are a series of lessons that empower us to make better choices the next time.
I can't tell you how many people I’ve watch fall into the perfect answer trap, the perfect eating or workout plan, the perfect opportunity to workout, the perfect day when willpower is in endless supply. Or the perfect opportunity to hire a good coach or make an investment of time and money into themselves.
It's not coming.
There are no perfect answers. It’s all just a series of ever evolving choices that lead to action. Action leads to results. There's just a best choice based on:

If you do your homework and make a choice, pursue it with vigour. Get past the 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days approaches. Stop looking for shortcuts at the expense of maintainable and sustainable results. Often when you make the choice to take the long journey, things work out better than you could have hoped for. You shatter glass ceilings!
If the worst case scenario is that it doesn’t work out, you learn and are now empowered to make a better choice next time.
In truth, making choices and committing to them is the only way to accomplish anything.
As you think about your health goals, think about choices and answers. Do you fully accept things as they are or do you wish to see change?
